The MONA tote bag is knitted from the bottom up. First The base of the bag is worked back and forth, then stitches are picked up and worked along the sides to knit the body of the bag in the round. Once the desired length is reached, the stitches are divided to knit the handles separately, back and forth. Once both handles are finished, they are joined with a three-needle bind-off. Finally, a lining is sewn and attached to the inside edge of the bag.

A piece of lining fabric measuring approximately 27.5 X 55 inches / 70 x 140 cm.
NOTES: the pattern 1 is knitted FIL K (100% pure laine – 100 g = 100 m) from Laines du Valgaudemar color rouge.
The lining is a viscose poplin (100% viscose) Checker – Sunday by Calissone.
The bag is knitted with a needle size smaller than the recommended yarn size to achieve a fairly dense/tight fabric. It is recommended to use a fairly rustic and sturdy yarn.
The bag's measurements may vary depending on the yarn chosen.
Techniques: St st, slipped st, decreases, bind-off with 3 needles, mattress st.
