Bilbao is the knit version of the crochet bag. It is knitted with a very easy lace pattern that can be memorised very quickly.The pattern offers it in two versions: bucket bag and tote bag.
 
LEVEL: Intermediate 2/3
 
SIZES: bucket bag version approximately 25 inches /64 cm circumference x 10 inches/25 cm height x 8 inches/20.5cm diameter (height is adjustable).Tote bag version approximately12.5 x 13 inches or 32 x 33 cm (adjustable height).Strap length: 31.5 inches/80 cm x 2 long version / 23.5 inches/60 cm x 2 short version (adjustable).
 
GAUGE: 22.5 sts x 22 rows for 4 x 4’’ or 10 x 10 cm in pattern st.
A pattern measures 1.5 X 0.5 inches / 4 cm X 1.8 cm. 
 
YARN: approximately 285 yards/260 m (130 g) for bucket bag and 330 yards/300 m (150 g) for tote bag of Lin la droguerie (100% linen – 100 m / 50 g) or any other DK weight yarn.
 
NOTIONS: circular needles sizes 3.5 mm/US 4, cable needles (knitted handles), sewing thread, wool needle and fabric for the lining.
 
NOTES: bucket bag is knitted in the Kraft color. Tote bag is knitted in the Brin d'avoine color.
 
Both bags are knit in the round bottom-up. 
Bucket bag ends with a round bottom all in stockinette stitch with a crown of decreases. Tote bag ends with a 3-needle bind-of. 
Two handle systems are available: leather handles to be sewn directly onto the bag (bucket bag is presented with 80 cm camel leather handles from la droguerie) and knitted handles with the pattern of twisted braids pattern (tote bag). 
 
The bags are lined with a machine-assembled fabric lining then sewn by hand over the entire top of the bag.It is also possible to make a rigid and removable bottom in jeffytex for the bucket bag. Explanations for making the fabric lining are provided.
