GRAND OURS is a trendy, modern hat that plays with different materials and textures. It is knitted in the round from the bottom up without seams. You begin by knitting the double edge in stockinette stitch, then the upper part in ribbing and decreases. It is as cool to knit as it is to wear by the whole family! And as a bonus, the headband version.

The hat is designed to have approximately 4 inches or 10 cm of negative ease.
This means the finished hat/headband circumference will be about 4 inches or 10 cm smaller than your actual head measurement.
Child sizes 1 (2) 3 and adult sizes (S) M (L) are designed to fit head circumferences of 17-18 (18-20) 20-21.25 (21.25-22) 22-23 (23-24) inches or 43-46 (46-51) 51-54 (54-56) 56-58 (58-61) cm.
Before you begin, measure your head circumference to choose the correct size. If you are between sizes, choose the size that best suits you, depending on how you prefer to wear your hat, more or less fitted.

GAUGE: 20 sts x 30 rows for 4 x 4 in or 10 x 10 cm in Stockinette st.
YARN: the hat is knitted with two yarn held together.
It can also be knitted with a single strand of DK/worsted yarn.

The bottom section and headband: one strand of Alpaca Bouclé from Drops (80% alpaca, 15% wool, 5% polyamide - 140 m = 50 g) and one strand of Alpaca from Drops (100 % alpaca - 167 m = 50g).
The top section: one strand of Surnaturelle from La Droguerie (100% wool - 175 m = 50 g) and one strand of Alpaca from Drops (100 % alpaca - 167 m = 50g).
MATERIALS: suggested circular needles 3.5 mm/US 4 with an 80 cm (32 inches) cable for the magic loop technique or minis and a 40 cm (16 inches) cable for knitting in the round or double-pointed needles, a tapestry needle and 1 stitch marker.
